Our Beliefs

One of our core beliefs at We the Body is that our faith demands to be ever-changing, growing, expanding, and wrestled with. We not only welcome, but celebrate hard questions, changing opinions, and the sacred phase,

"I don't know."

Here are the few things we do know.

Statement of Faith

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, whose indwelling enables the the worship, work, and witness of Christ's Kingdom.

We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and that together We form one Church, diverse in form and expression, of which Christ is the Head.

We believe in the ultimate restoration of all things from the destructive consequences of the Fall.

Nicene Creed

We affirm the historical and orthodox beliefs represented in the Nicene Creed:

We believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
We confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and We look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Apostle's Creed

We affirm the historical and orthodox beliefs represented in the Apostle's Creed:

We believe in God, the Father Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and will come again to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
